Joy and a Moose!

My craftiness urges want to be as busy as most this season, but a little snag has jumped into my life that interferes a bit with what I would 'like' to be doing.  Even so, when I can add up little bits of good time in my stampy zone, I'm learning to keep a project "in progress" across days if needed and just relish completion when it happens.  Get it while the getting is good?   ;)

Jeanne's Free for All F4A356 challenge this week is to use wood.  Well, I don't care too much for stamping with wood, so I immediately thought of my Hardwood background stamp ... and that led right into an earthy look, which quickly drew me to the moose that I adore in the Jolly Friends stamp set.  There.  All settled!

Some of you may know that deep inside I yearn to be a CAS stamper.  That is not as easy as it sounds in my opinion.  I love dimension, and more than 1 layer ... and sometimes bling, and dies, and ... I could keep going.
~
Anyway ... as long as I have another package of Stampin' Dimensionals handy, I'm usually a happy stamper.   Oh ... and Glimmer Paper.  I do love me some Glimmer Paper!  For my Joyful Moose, it's 'red'.   Have a Joyful day m'friends!

In a Hurry?

Sometimes a stamper needs or wants whatever it is as soon as possible.    That certainly describes me ... and perhaps it describes you or someone you know.

Upon receiving my latest box from Stampin' Up!, I emailed a customer who has been awaiting a product resolution.  "I have it!" was the point of my email to her.  So, she texted to arrange picking it up on her way home from work.  Yay!

Whoa!  What to do to make it just a little bit special ... and do it in a hurry?!

I first tried a 6"X6" paper stack ... but needed more length to surround this embossing folder.  So, a 3" wide length of designer series paper with just a 1" pieced strip in the back created a quick & colorful belly band.  My roll of holiday red tulle caught my eye when I quickly glanced around the studio, and that took mere seconds to tie.  The length already cut happened to fit just great!  (Good mojo?  The Christmas "force" was with me?)  Yes, and yes!

The tag was also super-quick.  The detailed ornament layer was cut from Mint Macaron and a circle of Real Red was cut to layer behind.  Topped that off with a looped strip of 1/8" Gold Ribbon then tucked it beneath the bow.  Done with time to spare!

Snow ... in Hawaii?? Snow Way!

You either read the news or heard the news, didn't you?  There is snow falling in Hawaii!
And they expect perhaps a foot of snow?  Really?

That's the sort of news that almost makes one wonder if they're really awake, or if that new coffee flavor has an ooky-spooky side effect!
Even though I'm actually in personal Christmas card making mode, shopping, and all that jazz, I wanted to play along in the FS516 challenge at Splitcoaststampers.  Congrats to scrapaholic007 (Shannon)!  This darling little penguin in the Snow Place stamp set is so cute and the matching framelits dies are totally easy to match with the shapes for cutting.  The only coloring required was on his little feet and beak.  A few bitty seconds with an aqua pen and the Delightful Dijon ink pad and penguin is ready to play in the snow!

I inked up just the top two words of one of the sentiments and cut the words apart to create the word tags.  Partial inking of stamps is so easy when you use the 1" uninked ink pads to create little ink pads in the specific colors you need.  (Naturally these little pads are a perfect travel size when you take your stampy fun along to a retreat or hotel for any reason you're going to be away from your regular supplies.)  Keep thinking "Christmas" .... Now, can you name the dsp I've used on this clean 'n simple creation?

Thoughts & Prayers Sympathy

Times for sympathy and prayers for those in struggle happen all throughout the year ... even during holiday seasons.  Honestly, I'd prefer to have a couple of these ready to go, but even though I currently do not have spares ready to mail, I'll return to this design again.

I consider the Thoughts and Prayers stamp set to be timeless.  This set will stay in my stamping cabinet for years to come because it transcends gender, time, and trends.

The designer paper and lace ribbon used on this card are both retired from the 2015-2016 catalog, but I do use favorite retired items for personal card sharing.  While I sell some retired items, I'm an active stamper for personal enjoyment as well as being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator.  Thus, I use what I love.  Being a demonstrator does not "limit" my personal use of products at all.   ;)

The subtle simplicity speaks for itself in this card.  I chose the oval shape for the bough + sentiment to add a touch of coordinating shape to the image arch itself.   Rounding the top corners echoes that soothing curvature.  This was sent to a friend whose father passed away.   I fully understand how vast a daughter's emptiness feels when her beloved father leaves this life.  A smaller oval was placed inside with another of the beautiful sentiments from this set.  I simply hurried to get it sealed and ready to send rather than remembering to photo the inside first.  Isn't that the way we stampers roll?!
