Peach Rain

So do you ever start working on something with no particular recipient in mind?
 ~
~
That's how today's card started.  I spotted the Fusion Challenge - 'Paris Rain', and quickly had an idea of what I might do ... ... and so it began!

The large image space drew my attention right away, and both my aqua painter brush plus watercolor paper were within reach.

Let's be honest ... I do have a LOT of stamps.  But I do not have the Eiffel tower, etc.  No problem!  I wanted this happy image from 'Beautiful You' to be 'dancing in the rain', so the image was stamped, then stamped again on some Eclipse masking tape.  The mask protected the central image while I lightly washed the paper as though it were a rainy day.

~

While that was drying, I worked on color selection and chose the additional stamps.  All the while, I still didn't really have a recipient in mind for the card-to-be, until I heard about a friend from my stamping group.  With that cyber shoulder-tap, I knew the exact purpose of this creation.

Don't you love it when that happens?

The framing around the sentiment was stamped with the leaf image from Kinda Eclectic as seen creating the surrounding foliage on the card's front.

Daydreaming in Ink ...

What do you do when the same, same, same feels tired, tired, tired?  In the words of a beloved G'son who shall remain anonymous, he would quickly state, "I'm bored!"  (As heard in periodic school's-out phone calls.)  ðŸ˜‰

It's a sunny day here, but also pretty humid.  Maybe that's what led to my tropical thoughts ... ...

I know ... Spring is just arriving this week, and here I am with more of a Summery creation.  Oh well ... I could definitely adore being in a tropical locale!  Having lived in the plains my entire life, with only precious little visits to oceans, sand, and plentiful vegetation ... my daydreams often tend to include salt water breezes, waves, florals, and exotic pretties of all sorts.

~All it took to create a watery cover for the flamingo was an Aqua Pen, a bit of water, and ink smooshed into the lid of my Dapper Denim ink pad.  Literally use a sweeping motion with the brush on the portion of the the watercolor paper where the flamingo will stand.

~Seems that I've slipped back to my natural layers + popped up dimension with this one.  Stamp off a cluster of foliage before adding the cut versions of the splendid tropical leaves.  I didn't want to add another layered element, so my Misti enabled a perfect placement of the 'Thanks' from the 'Weather Together' stamp set.  All other stamps are from 'Pop of Paradise'.  Both sets are from the current annual SU catalog.
Psssst!  Just twelve (12) days remain in Sale-A-Bration 2017!  I'll be sending one of these cards to everyone who places their order with my March Host Code QZ7R3NTD before March 31!

Yucky Stuff??

Yucky stuff 'happens'.  One of my long-time darlin' stampin' friends is recovering from some of it.  Alas, I didn't have any 'get well' cards stashed, so I had to ponder on what would be "just right" for her.

This week's Color Challenge over at SCS {Peekaboo Peach, So Saffron, Cucumber Crush} actually played a major role in my color choices here.  Those who know me well will nod their heads as soon as they see this one.  LOL  But, the So Saffron and the Peekaboo Peach were the colors that made me think of this cute stamp from Crafty Secrets, languishing in my collection of many, many stamps.  It's time to let this ducky come play.  And as it turns out, I'll actually need to make another similar card today for yet another sweet someone!

Last Fall I welcomed a couple of stampy guests from afar for a few days of creating + sight-seeing. They enjoy using their Copic markers, and in using theirs, I was inspired to uncover my own and have kept them handy ever since.  Not at all like 'getting back on a bicycle', but I'll keep them nearby and try to redevelop a few coloring skills from time to time.
~
The ovals are from the Stitched Shapes Framelits ... perfect touch around the edges for a little bitty bit of interest.  The striped paper is from the Fruit Stand designer series papers, and the Peekaboo Peach Ruched Ribbon is nearly at a "premium" here in my stampy zone, as it's the one I have used over'n'over.  Since moving to stamping styles involving less ribbon over recent years, I truly never saw that coming! LOL

Shopping is open 24/7 here at Texas Rubber 'n Ink!  Thanks for adding my March Host Code: QZ7R3NTD to your orders this month!  And ... remember that Sale-A-Bration ends this month.   Most of the SAB freebies are still available, but it all ends on March 31.

Irresistible Chick!

What to do with my "almost shameful"stash of fabby papers when there are people who need to receive a card?

I couldn't resist ... I used some of it!

Actually, the stash paper I used is the retired 'Irresistibly Yours' dsp.

But not to worry, because this year's version in the annual catalog is on page 172, "Irresistibly Floral" ... and it's equally beautiful and totally customizable to match the various color palettes of your cards, scrapbook pages, or other paper crafting projects.  All it takes is simple brayering or sponging.  I used our Sponge Brayers from p. 180, which includes 2 handles and 4 roller sponges!

Then I couldn't resist adding a little glam to her feathers with Wink of Stella!

Happily, this hip chick has already flown this coop and is on her way to welcome a new team member.  I hope she likes it!

Pssst!  If you've given any thought to getting your Stampin' Up! products at a discount with no obligations except enjoying new goodies, I'd love to welcome you to our brood as well!  During Sale-A-Bration you get an added free stamp set of your choice from any current catalog when you purchase the starter kit.  All of the details are right here.  Free SAB add-on set expires March 31.   ðŸ˜‰
~
Sale-A-Bration rewards every purchase of $50 with your choice of items from the SAB mini!  The Hey Chick stamp set featured here is a totally fun choice!

Sharp Snips & Pretty Papers!

How long has it been since you've sat down with pointy sharp paper snips and pretty papers to enjoy a little paper piecing?  Considering this was once a favorite technique for me, it has been way too long here!

Seems as though the 'Beautiful You' stamp set begs for an 'uptown' girl look!

Lots of pretty patterns in the Floral Boutique designer series paper collection will work for creating some lovely paper piecing works.
The underlying texture from the 'Seaside' embossing folder gives such a nice flow behind the model image, as if we're watching a fashion show.

It's a gloriously beautiful day here today - with NO wind!   So I'm giving in to closing the laptop and enjoying a bit of fresh air before the wind comes back.  I can be reached ... no need to worry.  Email is easy-peasy and I'm happy to help!  Psssssst!  I adore your comments or thoughts if you will share!
